Cash or Pass for iPhone and iPad, published by James Loboda. Last updated 26 September 2026.
This policy covers this app only. Other apps by the same developer have their own policies, because they do not all behave the same way.
The short version
The names you add for a party stay on your device and are never sent anywhere. When you answer a dare, the app adds one anonymous count to that dare's price, so everyone sees how the crowd really priced it. To keep that fair, each installation gets a random anonymous ID, so each person counts once per dare. It also reports anonymous usage statistics. None of it contains your name, the names you add, or anything that identifies you. There are no ads, no accounts to create and nothing to buy.
What stays on your device
| What | Who can see it | How long |
|---|---|---|
| The names of players you add for a party | Only someone using your unlocked device | Until you remove them in the app, or delete the app |
| Whether you have seen How to play | Same | Until you delete the app |
What is sent, and to whom
The app uses three Google services: the Firebase Realtime Database, which holds the crowd's counts; Firebase Authentication, which gives this installation a random anonymous ID so each person is counted once; and Google Analytics for Firebase, which reports how the app is used. They are the only things in the app that send anything anywhere.
| Sent | What it is | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Your answer to a dare | Which dare, and which of its four prices you picked, or that you passed. Added as one to a running count for that dare. | Showing everyone how the crowd priced each dare |
| Anonymous player ID | A random ID Firebase Authentication creates for this installation, with no name, email, phone number or Apple ID behind it. Stored beside each dare: how many answers this installation has given to it (at most one per player at the table), and which price each player's seat picked. A seat is “you” or a random code for a party player, never a name. | Counting each person once per dare, so the crowd cannot be stuffed |
| App instance ID | A random identifier for this installation, created by Google Analytics. Not your name, not your Apple ID, and not the advertising identifier (IDFA), which the app never asks for. It is regenerated if you reinstall. | Counting people rather than events |
| Device and app details | Device model, iOS version, app version, language | Knowing which devices to support |
| Approximate region | Country or region, worked out by Google from the network address. Not a street, not coordinates. | Knowing where the app is used |
| Usage events | That a deck was opened; that a dare was answered, with the deck, the price picked and whether it was solo or a party; that a party round was revealed, with how many players; that a store link was opened | Seeing which decks and prices get played |
What is never sent
The names of the players you add. Who answered what at a party. None of these leave your device, and none of them are attached to anything that does.
As with any connection to the internet, Google's servers see your device's network address while the app talks to them. The developer does not store it.
Google processes this data on the developer's behalf. Google's own handling is described in Firebase privacy and Google's privacy policy.
How long it is kept
- Dare counts are totals with nothing identifying in them, and are kept for as long as the app is offered.
- The anonymous player ID and the per-dare records under it are kept for as long as the app is offered. Deleting the app discards the ID from your device, after which nothing connects those records to you. To have them removed sooner, email the address below.
- Usage statistics are kept by Google Analytics for up to 14 months, then deleted automatically. Reports built from them are aggregated.
Tracking and ads
The app shows no ads and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. It never asks for the advertising identifier.
Can I turn it off?
The counts and statistics are part of how the game works and are always on; there is no switch inside the app. Deleting the app stops everything described here. If you have no connection, nothing is sent and the game still works.
Who the app is for
Cash or Pass is a party game for adults. It is not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If the app starts sending anything new, this page changes in the same update, and the date at the top changes with it.
